Everything is changing
This present time is what we call a time of transition. It is a time of progression and transition when the world is passing through the distress and travail that is common to the ending of one age and the beginning of the new. This time of transition and progression will indeed be very strange. It will be a time of much change and of the shaking of everything that can be shaken. Everything everywhere is changing as the Lord shakes and removes all that speaks of the old order and brings forth that which pertains to the new. Although we may experience some difficulties because of the necessary changes, we will grow spiritually and will rejoice in the end result.
God’s purpose is being revealed
This is indeed a strange time of transition. It is a time of constant changes everywhere. The changes we are now witnessing are signaling the beginning of an age of good things, when the righteousness, peace, joy, justice, and love of God shall prevail among men. This strange time of transition is a time of divine correction. It is a time when all that is contrary to the spirit and purpose of the kingdom of God is being revealed so that those contrary forces may eventually be removed to make way for His kingdom. The changes we are seeing are part of the shaking of all things that can be shaken until we may wonder if there is anything permanent anywhere.
Everything is being shaken
The writer to the Hebrews said that the Lord once shook the earth, and then declared, “Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” (Heb. 12:26-29)
The Lord is doing the work
We are now in that strange time of transition when the Lord is shaking everything that can be shaken. All that is the result of man’s efforts, man’s works, or man’s carnal mind shall be shaken down to nothing. This includes all man’s systems, whether religious, political-governmental, or economic. Then the kingdom of God shall arise from the ashes of the old things of the past. We have no control over the present shakings or what is being shaken, for the Lord is doing the work. He is moving in the earth in a very sovereign way to accomplish His eternal purposes, and to bring forth His kingdom. That which cannot be shaken shall remain. Only that which is of the creation of God shall stand to become the basis for the pure and righteous kingdom of God.
We are receiving The Kingdom
As everything around us is being shaken, we are receiving the kingdom of God which cannot be shaken. We also are serving the Lord acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Our high calling during this brief time of transition thus requires that we continue receiving the kingdom of God, with all the principles and truth of our King, and hold fast to His grace. This is not a time to be slothful, lethargic, or indifferent. The times demand that we be spiritually alert, awake, and aware, and that we be found occupying until His appearing. During this strange time, we will cling to Christ, serving God according to His will and purpose with godly fear, knowing that our God is a consuming fire, and that He will burn away all that does not come from Him.
